Eve's Eyes Fundraising - initial target 15,000 USD

Eve is a dear sweet little girl, now 7 months old in need of our help.

Eve is diagnosed with Goldenhars Syndrome which presents a number is issues for Eve, but her most urgent problem is a tumour on the lower lid of one eye. Actually she has two tumours on the same eye. One attached to the lower lid and one attached to muscle and nerve at the side of her eye. Eve needs both tumours removed, however following a week of medical rounds in Beijing it is apparent that we must look outside China for Eve's eye operations. To this end we are looking to start a fundraising campaign for Eve's Eyes.

We have found a Western Opthamologist in Beijing who will review Eve's eyes on a regular basis to ensure that the tumour does not cover the iris. The tumour is close now to covering the iris but we are hopeful of raising the money we need to have her operation at the soonest possible time and before the tumour covers her iris preventing much needed light for neurological development. The tumours also needs to be biopsied and once removed, Eve will need further surgery, possibly some cosmetic facial / eye surgery, mouth, and ear surgery, OT, Physio and so on.

The reasons for looking outside China for Eves surgery are fourfold: availability of advanced microscopes for this delicate micro-surgery, surgical hygiene, pathology availability during surgery, anaesthesia and anaesthesia procedures for such a young child.

We are looking at Hong Kong and Canada and possibly Australia for Eve's surgery with the view to locating a surgeon and hospital willing to work pro-bono. Alternately we will need to increase our fund-raising target if we cannot find a surgeon willing to operate no charge.

Our initial taget is 15,000 USD (£10,000 or AUD 16,800)
