Volunteer opportunities
There are a number of ways in which you can consider being part of this wonderful work, whatever your skills and experience. The main ‘qualifications’ are a desire to serve and an ability to be flexible,
Medical/nursing
We have several opportunities for people with a medical/nursing professional background.
1. We need someone or a couple with a professional background in healthcare (medical, nursing, therapy) to provide the day to day care of the children’s medical needs and running of the home. Ideally you will want to spend a year or so here after a short reconnaissance trip.
2. Registered nurses, preferably with paediatric experience, are needed to work as part of a multi cultural team promoting excellence of nursing care, a holistic approach and the value of human life.
Under the supervision of the Director of Care the nurse will plan and deliver nursing care to the babies and children who have a wide range of conditions, supporting and advising the Nannies and other Chinese staff, liaising with and supporting other organisations working locally.
Together with the Director of Care the successful applicants will identify their learning/development needs and appropriate training will be planned e.g. language study, palliative care.
After an initial (minimum 6 months) period the nurse will have opportunity to be part of a rotation to other areas in the city caring for very disabled children
3. Bi-lingual (Mandarin/English) speaker. You may be skilled in therapy or gifted in teaching or administration. We would love to hear from you and your heart for this work.
