China Kids - care for and improve the lives of orphaned, abandoned, sick, disabled, handicapped and other children in need
Welcome to ChinaKidz
The Butterfly Home - a children’s hospice and China's first children's community palliative care service
ChinaKidz provide specialist children’s palliative care services in Changsha, Hunan Province. Government Officials signed the contract with ChinaKidz to co-operate with the Children’s Welfare Institute and open a children’s palliative care service for abandoned children.
Chinakidz will also offer palliative care services to families, aiming to support them and avoid the pressure to abandon their sick baby/child. This is an exciting and groundbreaking project in China; even in many other parts of the world children’s hospice services are not available.
Children’s hospice services provide specialist care and support to children who are not expected to live to reach adulthood – and their families – from the moment of diagnosis onwards.

What's it all about?
"Those with white hair should die first”
Unfortunately, in real life this is not always the case, and there are children throughout China, with incurable illnesses, who need the support of dedicated hospice care to see that their last days are spent in a comfortable, loving and supportive environment.
You can help by giving a little, just click the Donate Online tab, enter the amount in sterling.http://www.xe.com/
BUT it's not all bad news! Many of the children we care for do not have life limiting illness and all they need is love and good care or surgery.
Read about Ruby and Susannah in our stories section and listen to a radio interview - click the link http://bit.ly/2luYn1 to listen to Jamie, Alan & Lyn's interview on Australia Radio, broadcast in early October 2009. The interview illustrates the reason why the work of Chinakidz is so vital.
I have 26 rooms to paint,
The paint is £10:00 per tin and 1 tin will paint 1 room. The rooms are in the Butterfly Home where renovation is underway. Walls are coming down and electric cables are going in, I hope to start painting on the 2nd of February 2010, but I need to buy the paint! Will you please help me. You can buy a tin or even some painting equipment so we can give the babies some colour.

Changsha No.1 Children's Welfare Institute & Chinakidz sign the contract
On December 18th at 10am we were pleased to sign and exchange contracts to open the Butterfly home in Changsha. The contract will enable the first childrens community palliative care and hospice to be opened in China. We are grateful for the support of the Directors of Civil Affairs and the Welfare Institute (orphanage) pictured below with Alan.

Grace (in pink) is our new Chinakidz manager and was a great help in getting the contract accurately translated and acceptable to both parties . Local staff witnessed the signing which was followed by exchanging gifts.

As customary in China a special lunch was held to celebrate the new partnership with good food and many toasts.

Please do get in touch with any questions, comments or offers of help - email info@chinakidz.org
many thanks
Alan & Lyn Gould
